The Lonely Fox is a lighthearted tale about a young woodland fox, who’s trying to understand the new realities of his life during a pandemic. In a heartfelt conversation with his mother, the little fox asks questions about this “new normal” and vents to her about frustrations and challenges he’s currently facing. This rhyming story aims to help children remain positive, while they’re learning to cope with pandemic induced feelings they may be experiencing like anxiety, restlessness, fear, anger, and loneliness. Using gentle language and colorful graphics, topics about virus prevention, social distancing, mask-wearing, online learning and more, are addressed, so children become more familiar with (and less anxious about) the ever changing world around them. The book also reminds kids to be brave, stay strong, find joy in each and every day, and that “this too shall pass”.
